It all started in the Bronx
The youngest of four, Mario was born and raised in the Bronx by his parents—Albanian immigrants from Montenegro. After graduating high school, Mario and his mother went to Manhattan where he found a retail job at Sephora as a fragrance consultant in the Flatiron District. He was hired as one of the original cast members of the US team.
THE SEPHORA DAYS, AND A
DRIVING GOAL
Mario discovered a passion for makeup artistry after his first day, when a woman asked for his help selecting a lipstick. Soon after, he was hired by two singers he met at Sephora to create their makeup for a cabaret show. He was only 17 and did not have a formal makeup kit, so he took a Nike shoebox from his closet filled with products from Sephora and did their makeup for $25. In those early days at Sephora, Mario set a goal that would drive the rest of his career—he would become a professional makeup artist with the dream of one day having his own line. Mario would dedicate his life to fulfilling this vision.
A MASTER EDUCATOR REVOLUTIONIZING AN INDUSTRY
Trusted leader in the field of education, Mario pioneered The Master Class in 2009, sparking a global phenomenon. With this unprecedented education platform, Mario transparently shares his tried-and-true trade secrets he's mastered over a two-decade career, igniting a movement of radical inclusivity within the beauty community. The Master Class started in a room with 16 students, and slowly grew over the years to over 2,000 students per class, often selling out in minutes. As of today, the Master Class has welcomed over 30,000 students, and counting, across North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
Fulfilling his true purpose, Mario shares his artistry through his education, unearthing his connection to true beauty and generosity. A teacher, role model, and inspiration, Mario serves as a master of education.
